Have you updated your phone system since you opened your business? Do you have the bare minimum of features needed to get your job done, or are you struggling under the weight of too many useless elements you don’t use? The Xima software suite is designed to change the way that you use your business phones and equip you with the data that you need when you need it.

Chronicall

Chronicall is the core of the Xima software suite. It offers a broad range of features including custom call reporting, call recording and real-time updates. The standard reports are designed to give you the basic information you need to effectively meet the needs of your business and your customers. The 40 types of standard reports include:

  • Hunt Group reports
  • Agent/extension reports
  • Caller ID reports
  • Inbound/Outbound Call reports
  • Call cost reports
  • Time interval reports
  • Trunk/Line-reports

Beyond the basics, all of the Chronicall reports include unlimited supervisor logins, report scheduling, user access controls and detailed charts.

Custom Chronicall Reports

If you need specific information about your business and customers, the custom reports module allows you unlimited custom reports. The report type could include any of the following:

  • Agent
  • Account code
  • Call direction
  • Call report
  • Caller ID
  • Event type
  • Feature type
  • Group
  • Local number
  • System report
  • Time interval
  • Trunk

Once you choose the designation for your report, you can select from filters and values to get exactly what you need. Confused by all of the options available to you? Teltek and Xima Care are both available to help with tutorials and troubleshooting.

Xima’s VRTX Call Recording System

If you rely on accurate call recording, Xima’s VRTX (Voice Recording Technology) is the perfect solution. The VRTX system can be used by connecting the in-line hardware and your phone system and plugging it into your Chronicall server. This call recording technology will record everything and add it to the Chronicall recording library. Once they are added to the library, they will be easily accessible 24/7.

Limited Time Remains for Business Phone System and Computer Tax Incentives!

Sunday, December 1st, 2013

For small businesses this year, New Year’s Eve won’t just be a time to reflect on their progress over the past 12 months.  If you’re looking to improve your business, it will also be the last day for companies to qualify for the Section 179 tax deduction.

Section 179 was created as an economy stimulus to encourage businesses to invest in themselves through the deduction of the full price of (qualifying) new or used equipment.  However, starting in 2014, the benefits will be greatly reduced and qualified purchases will change.  When determining how much of a deduction a company is qualified for, simply multiply the cost of the equipment/software by the percentage of business-use to arrive at the monetary amount eligible for Section 179.  Keep in mind – you have to use the equipment for business more than 50% of the time!

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?

Deductions reduce taxable income and decrease the amount of tax you owe to the government thus, increasing your bottom line! Many people don’t know about them or know how to take advantage of them.

WHAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE?

If you are planning on a technology upgrade in the very near future consider making that purchase prior to the close of 2013 to take advantage of this great tax benefit. Almost all types of “business equipment” qualify for 179 (computers, servers, phone systems, etc.). See the chart below for a side-by-side comparison of just how great 2013 benefits are versus 2014.

2013

2014

Deduction Limit

$500,000

$25,000

Purchase Limit

$2,000,000

$200,000

Phase Out

$2,500,000

$225,000

Start your New Year off with a bang – capitalize on the 2013 deduction rates, and contact Teltek to request a quote. Teltek, a Certified Avaya Business Partner, NEC Dealer, and Microsoft Partner can provide, install and repair business phone systems & computer networks, run voice and data cabling, and coordinate local, long-distance, and internet service providers. Girl On Wire – Man Or Machine?

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

This past weekend, I saw a televised story on the Today show about Amazon.com‘s largest fufillment center, located in Arizona. As you can imagine, it’s as amazing as Santa’s Workshop and this time of year it’s busier than ever!

The warehouse space is 1.2 million square feet, the size of 28 football fields, and although it is almost fully automated, the machinery is supplemented by hundreds of employees who pull products and perform other functions that still need that human touch. The company will be hiring 50,000 seasonal workers across the U.S. to meet customer demand.

I was very suprised to learn that shipments intended to be given as presents are hand wrapped by Amazon.com employees. Dave Clark, Amazon’s Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment was quoted as saying, “The holiday is about gifts. This is something that they bought with care for another person. You know a machine-wrapped gift from a human-wrapped gift. It’s not the same.”

It’s that kind of mentality that launches a company ahead of its competitors, retaining that personal touch when it matters most. If a giant like Amazon.com can keep a human “hands on” approach for certain tasks, the rest of us certainly can as well.

Teltek has a great practice for customer service that is overlooked by some other companies. A real live person answers each and every call during regular business hours. While many companies rely on auto-attendant and answering services, we have chosen to take calls the old fashioned way, even though we sell phone systems and accessories that will automate that task for you!

While an automated system is a necessary and effective communications tool for some businesses, Teltek believes that personally addressing customer questions and concerns is a smart way to do business and stay connected to our customers.

Bobby, our Service Coordinator, is the primary person answering those calls, but four more Teltek team members (including Girl On Wire!) back him up, so if he is addressing a customer concern, your call will still be answered by a friendly and helpful human being.

The end of the year is a great time to look back on what your company’s strengths and weaknesses are and how you can improve for the ahead. In this era of technology, you may wish to review your practices and see if any of them could be made a little more personal.

Does your business have a personal touch that sets you apart from others? Write in and tell us about it!

Girl On Wire – A New View

Monday, November 12th, 2012

Over the weekend, I spent some time in Federal Hill. I don’t get over to that end of town due to the limited parking in that area at times, but always have a good time in that neighborhood.

My Saturday started with meeting a friend for coffee at Koba Cafe and after that we took my dog to Federal Hill Park. This park is one of my favorite places in Baltimore because of the amazing panoramic view of the city from the top of the hill. If you’ve never been to the park, but are familiar with the Inner Harbor area, it’s that giant green hill behind the Maryland Science Center. At the top of it you will find a playground, benches, a few monuments and one of the best views of Baltimore you will ever see. The site once featured an observatory and has been a public park since 1879.

The view from Federal Hill Park

As we sat on a bench admiring the perfect fall weather and this peaceful perspective of Charm City, I was reminded of the importance of stepping back every now and then to view the bigger picture. I live and work in Baltimore, so it’s easy to get caught up in the daily bustle and forget how beautiful and impressive the city is. Following the wrath of Superstorm Sandy, there’s also some degree of vulnerability, being a city that is located directly on the water.

A business owner also needs to step back once in a while to overview their office equipment and processes and sometimes it’s helpful to have an outsider assist with this so you can get that unbiased, professional evaluation. When you are part of the environment, you are aware of your company’s capabilities and weaknesses, but at times it is difficult to see the entire process from within.

One of Teltek‘s strengths is providing that kind of fresh perspective. Our site surveys and technology assessments can identify potential vulnerabilities in your system and provide suggestions for saving money, increasing productivity and ensuring that your critical information stays secure. From your phone system to your network configuration, we can ensure that all systems are running at peak efficiency so you can focus on running your business.

Call Teltek today for a free site survey and evaluation. It really can’t hurt to get a fresh perspective!

Teltek is a Certified Avaya Business Partner, NEC Dealer, and Microsoft Partner with two locations in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. We specialize in providing one call technology support for small to mid-sized businesses and nonprofits in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Girl on Wire – A New Perspective for the New Year

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

The start of a shiny new out-of-the-box year is a great time to re-evaluate and figure out how to make this year better than the last. Another helpful exercise is to view what’s important to you from a fresh perspective. Sometimes a different viewpoint is all it takes to appreciate and best utilize what you have in your personal and work lives.

Look back and then look forward. What can you learn from last year and aspire to in 2012? Maybe this is the year you realize you’ve been working too much and finally take that exotic vacation. Spending time in a foreign destination could introduce you to fascinating new cultures and interesting people!

How do you regard your phone system? If you look at it as a meaningless business expense, you may be selling your equipment, and your business, short. Your communications device is a critical link to your customers, vendors, family and friends. It’s a way to exchange information and bring thoughts and ideas together.

If your business phone system is not delivering on these lofty expectations, it might be time to replace it or perhaps expand it to suit your needs. Today’s technology allows communication to be fast, clear and reliable and all of these aspects are necessary for your business to succeed in today’s market.

Consider all the opportunities you have to touch your customers through communication;

*A conference phone or conference bridge that saves participants from having to travel to your office

*Receiving voicemails and faxes through your email so you get messages faster

*Important company news or special offers that play while your customer is on hold

*Wireless headsets and real-time information on call queues, hold times and agent status for your call centers

*Calls that forward to your cell phone so you don’t miss that important update when you’re out of the office

All of these are features that come with sophisticated, yet affordable communications equipment. Teltek is more than just a resource for purchasing Avaya and NEC business phones systems and the accessories that enhance them, we are a trusted solutions provider.

What does it mean to be a solutions provider? We want to hear what is not working for you and then consult with you to find a suitable remedy. Everyone here at Teltek wishes you a worry-free and prosperous new year, call us today to find out how you can achieve that for your business in 2012!

A Lesson Learned From Netflix

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Recently, those of us who subscribe to Netflix – a video rental (and previously video streaming) service – received a letter:

“I messed up. I owe you an explanation.

It is clear from the feedback over the past two months that
many members felt we lacked respect and humility in the way we announced the
separation of DVD and streaming and the price changes. That was certainly not
our intent, and I offer my sincere apology. Let me explain what we are doing.

For the past five years, my greatest fear at Netflix has
been that we wouldn’t make the leap from success in DVDs to success in
streaming. Most companies that are great at something – like AOL dialup or
Borders bookstores – do not become great at new things people want (streaming
for us). So we moved quickly into streaming, but I should have personally given
you a full explanation of why we are splitting the services and thereby
increasing prices. It wouldn’t have changed the price increase, but it would
have been the right thing to do.

So here is what we are doing and why.

Many members love our DVD service, as I do, because nearly
every movie ever made is published on DVD. DVD is a great option for those who
want the huge and comprehensive selection of movies.

I also love our streaming service because it is integrated
into my TV, and I can watch anytime I want. The benefits of our streaming
service are really quite different from the benefits of DVD by mail. We need to
focus on rapid improvement as streaming technology and the market evolves,
without maintaining compatibility with our DVD by mail service.

So we realized that streaming and DVD by mail are really
becoming two different businesses, with very different cost structures, that
need to be marketed differently, and we need to let each grow and operate
independently.

It’s hard to write this after over 10 years of mailing DVDs
with pride, but we think it is necessary: In a few weeks, we will rename our
DVD by mail service to ‘Qwikster’. We chose the name Qwikster because it refers
to quick delivery. We will keep the name ‘Netflix’ for streaming.

Qwikster will be the same website and DVD service that everyone
is used to. It is just a new name, and DVD members will go to qwikster.com to
access their DVD queues and choose movies. One improvement we will make at
launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option
for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Members
have been asking for video games for many years, but now that DVD by mail has
its own team, we are finally getting it done. Other improvements will follow. A
negative of the renaming and separation is that the Qwikster.com and
Netflix.com websites will not be integrated.

There are no pricing changes (we’re done with that!). If you
subscribe to both services you will have two entries on your credit card
statement, one for Qwikster and one for Netflix. The total will be the same as
your current charges. We will let you know in a few weeks when the Qwikster.com
website is up and ready.

For me the Netflix red envelope has always been a source of
joy. The new envelope is still that lovely red, but now it will have a Qwikster
logo. I know that logo will grow on me over time, but still, it is hard. I
imagine it will be similar for many of you.

I want to acknowledge and thank you for sticking with us,
and to apologize again to those members, both current and former, who felt we
treated them thoughtlessly.

Both the Qwikster and Netflix teams will work hard to regain
your trust. We know it will not be overnight. Actions speak louder than words.
But words help people to understand actions.

Respectfully yours,

Reed Hastings
Co-Founder and CEO
Netflix

p.s. I have a slightly longer explanation along with a video posted on our blog, where you can also post comments.

We can all take something away from Netflix’s mistake and follow-up “mea culpa”. No one is infallible; when a company makes a mistake, from a one man shop to a small business to a large corporation, it’s all about reacting quickly,  owning up to the error,  apologizing, and making it right.  Not acknowledging the problem exists – or even worse, denying it – only makes things worse.  Arthur Andersen and Enron, anyone?

Like Netflix, Teltek has been proactive in responding to customer feedback.  We strive to provide the outstanding service our clients deserve, and look for ways to improve not only our day to day practices but also the technology and products we offer.

Comment or shoot us an email with suggestions or kudos!
